X-RAY RADIOGRAPHY IS USED IN DENTISTRY FOR THE FOLLOWING PURPOSES:

  • Cavities Detection - Cavities can appear to be very small to the naked eye but could run deep and are very invasive if left untreated for a long time. In some cases, the decay has advanced to the root canal cavity, resulting in root canal infection. We use digital X-rays better to view the underlying tooth root and root canal cavity. It helps us determine the extent of damage caused by the infection and how far it has progressed.
  • Damaged Teeth Diagnosis - External trauma to the mouth brought about by vehicular, work, or sporting accidents can cause the teeth to crack, chip, or break. In some extreme instances, even the jawbone may be damaged as well, which could result in severe pain and complications. For these cases, we use digital X-rays to get a better view of the damaged tissues and, based on what we see from them, plan the restoration and treatment accordingly.
  • Jawbone Deterioration Diagnosis - When a tooth is removed from the jawbone, a small amount of bone may be removed from the jawbone. Over time, it leads to shrinkage and deterioration of the jawbone. It could make the adjoining teeth loosen from their positions. Also, if you wish to get a dental implant to replace your missing tooth, a shrunken jawbone would make you ineligible for the restoration. In such instances, we will check for the extent of bone deterioration and drifting of teeth using X-rays.
