PREVENTIVE CARE

PREVENTIVE CARE

Preventive dentistry is aimed at averting dental conditions even before they become prominent and take a toll on your oral health. Preventive dental treatment helps keep you from suffering a lot of pain and discomfort. It also saves you time and money that you would have to spend to have serious dental conditions treated. Although preventive care is more important for children and younger individuals, everyone can benefit from it irrespective of their ages.

Here are some of the preventive dentistry treatments we offer:

Oral Cleaning

Oral cleaning is the simple process of removing plaque and tartar deposits from the teeth's surfaces. Deep cleaning is carried out to remove tartar from the tooth roots and clear out the deep gum pockets. Oral cleaning ensures that tartar deposits, which are the leading cause of cavities and gum disease, are removed, thereby improving your overall oral health.

Dental Sealants

Sealants are acrylic surface applications made from tooth-colored material. They are applied to the molars and premolars to cover their occlusal grooves. Covering these grooves prevents microbial accumulation in them, which significantly reduces the chances of developing cavities. Sealants are suggested especially for children, as they tend to consume a lot of sweets and sticky foods.

Fluoride Treatment

Applying a topical fluoride gel on the teeth ensures the lost minerals from the teeth are regained. Fluoride is an essential mineral that strengthens the teeth and reduces the chances of developing cavities, much like calcium. When the body doesn't receive its ideal supply of fluoride from drinking water and toothpaste, we recommend professional fluoride treatment to replenish its volume.

Dental X-rays

X-rays have been used in dentistry for various purposes, such as mapping the positions of the teeth, determining the severity of jawbone deterioration, checking for damaged teeth and cavities, spotting the growth of cancerous or infected tissues, cysts, lesions, etc. They offer an excellent visual aid that helps us diagnose your oral conditions better.

Routine Oral Consultations

Dental consultations at least once every six months would be necessary for the dentist to conduct a thorough diagnosis of your mouth. During this time, we will look into the condition of your oral tissues and spot the onset of cavities, gum disease, damaged restorations, as well as remove tartar deposits by ultrasonic scaling. We will fill cavities using tooth-colored filling material made from dental-grade ceramic or composite resin.

We invite you to schedule a consultation with our team of dental experts at Spa Dentistry in San Jose, CA to get all your oral concerns addressed at the earliest. Please call us at (408) 270-7723 or reach out through online consultation, and we’ll be happy to help.
